Hospital never events
A report out this week highlights that between April 2018 and July 2019 hundreds of patients have suffered as a result of so called ‘never events’ in NHS hospitals; the equivalent of 9 patients every week. The figures reveal that doctors have operated on the wrong body parts and left surgical tools (including surgical gloves, chest drains and drill bits) inside patients many times over. One patient had the wrong toe amputated, another had the wrong part of their colon removed; there were two mistaken circumcisions, and one patient had a lump removed from the wrong breast. Six women had ovaries removed in error during hysterectomies, putting them into menopause.
If you or a loved one has been affected by any of these issues and you wish to consider a legal claim you can contact Graystons for further assistance. We can also advise you on the range of funding options available to you, including whether you may be able to fund a legal action under a ‘no win no fee’ agreement.
