Graystons Solicitors was established in 2000. We are a friendly and accessible team providing a dedicated and personal service to victims of medical negligence. The company is led by highly experienced Julie Grayston. Julie has over 20 years of experience as a lawyer specialising in claims involving complex injuries caused by accidents as a result of medical negligence. Julie is an AVMA panel member and has successfully negotiated multi-million-pound settlements on behalf of her clients.
 

The company are able to provide an individual, caring service that is dedicated to helping and understanding people’s needs. Our size means you are not just another case. Solicitors are personally assigned to all clients and nurture all aspects of each individual case with total dedication.


Graystons is based in Capenhurst on the edge of Chester and the Wirral,  but because of our specialist nature and reputation, we represent clients from across the country. The Capenhurst office has easy access by public transport and onsite car parking for visitors. When appropriate, home visits are available. Graystons Solicitors is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. SRA No 564279 is subject to the SRA Standards and Regulations 2019.

Julie Grayston

Founder & Managing Director

Julie was born in Birkenhead and educated in Holywell, North Wales. She graduated from Keele University in 1986 with BA Hons and continued her professional training at Chester Law College.

​

She has over 20 years of experience as a lawyer specialising in claims involving complex injuries caused by accidents and medical negligence. Having been a partner at an established Wirral law firm Julie left to set up Graystons Solicitors in 2000. She leads a friendly accessible team of dedicated and specialist lawyers.

 

Julie is an AVMA panel member and has successfully negotiated multi-million-pound settlements on behalf of her clients. She has also previously served as Secretary of a specialist society of Clinical Negligence Lawyers (SCIL) who are all concerned to protect the interests of people affected ensuring that people are properly represented by firms specialising in this area of law.

Lydia Brindley

Director

Lydia was born on the Wirral; she was educated at Upton Hall before completing her English and History degree at The University of Liverpool followed by her post-graduate in Law at the College of Law, Chester.


Lydia qualified as a solicitor in 2011 and has worked exclusively in Medical Negligence ever since.  Lydia is experienced in all aspects of medical negligence claims to include but not limited to brain injury, paediatrics, oncology, and gynaecology.


Lydia gained Law Society Clinical Negligence accreditation in 2019 which recognises her expertise in the field.

 

In her spare time, Lydia loves to be with her 2 young children.  She loves to go walking, cycling, and camping with them in the great outdoors. When she gets the chance she also loves running and baking sweet treats for her family.

Emma Fawdry

Associate Solicitor

Emma was educated at Upton Hall before completing her Classical Civilisations degree at The University of Liverpool followed by her Graduate Diploma in Law, Legal Professional Course and Law degree at the College of Law in Chester.

Over the years, Emma has worked in a number of legal fields for both Claimant and Defendant firms, including many years in Medical Negligence, however, since qualifying as a solicitor in 2016 she has worked solely within Medical Negligence.

​

In her spare time, Emma enjoys reading, films and the theatre.

Amy Hutchinson

Fellow Chartered Legal Executive

Amy was born in Chester and attended The University of Chester where she gained a degree in History and Archaeology. Upon completion of her degree, she took a role as a receptionist at a law firm in Chester and later as a Legal Secretary in Clinical Negligence. From there Amy began a CILEx course to qualify as a Chartered Legal Executive, working as a Paralegal specialising in Clinical Negligence along the way. Amy qualified as Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives in 2018 and continues to work exclusively for victims of medical negligence.

​

Amy has previously been on the Committee for the Merseyside Junior Lawyers Division as a Publicity Representative and has more recently been recognised as an APIL approved Litigator.

​

In her spare time, Amy enjoys spending quality time with her family, reading and drinking coffee!

Kathleen Jones

Associate Solicitor

Kath was born on the Wirral and attended West Kirby Grammar School before achieving a First Class degree in Criminology and Sociology at The University of Chester. She then went on to complete the Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Chester.

​

Kath qualified as a solicitor in 2017 and has always worked in medical negligence. More recently, however, she took up an 18-month post at a local hospital and worked as part of their Patient Experience Team during the pandemic. This provided an invaluable insight into the workings of the NHS and is an experience she is very proud of.

​

In her spare time, Kath loves to spend time with her family. This includes Dino days out, walking her dalmatian and holidaying whenever she can.

Richard Roberts

Rich was born in St Asaph and grew up in a little village near Mold called Nercwys.

​

Rich graduated with First Class LLB honours in Law 2012 and then completed the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law, Chester in 2013.

​

Since graduating Rich has specialised in medical negligence claims. Rich qualified as a solicitor in 2019 and has experience in all aspects of medical negligence claims to include but not limited to orthopaedics, oncology, ophthalmology, general surgery and obstetrics and gynaecology.

​

In his spare time, Rich enjoys watching football and rugby and is a keen Manchester United and Wales supporter. He enjoys cycling, hiking and socialising with friends and family. He also plays the guitar and is self-taught to a high standard. Rich has performed at a number of gigs and charity events with his older brother over the years raising money for a number of charities

Lauren Teggin

Solicitor

Lauren was born and grew up in Manchester. She graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a 2:1 LLB honours in Law in 2015 and went on to complete the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Manchester.

​

Prior to joining Graystons, Lauren worked for a number of years for an Oncologist who provides expert reports for medical negligence claims. This encouraged her to pursue a career in medical negligence.
 

In her spare time, Lauren enjoys travelling, having lived in Australia for a couple of years and spending time with her friends and family. 

Esther Redfern

Trainee Solicitor

Esther was born and grew up in Northern Ireland. She moved to England after graduating as an adult nurse in 2015. Since, she has worked in a variety of settings throughout the NHS and private healthcare, mainly in acute medical care.
 
She completed her Graduate Diploma in Law in 2021 with Distinction. After working with Graystons as a Paralegal, Esther progressed in 2024 to the role of Trainee Solicitor.
 
In her spare time, Esther enjoys taking trips home to visit her family, reading, and travelling whenever she can.

Olivia Grayson

Olivia Grayson joined our team as a paralegal, fresh from gaining a 1st in her degree in Law and Criminology at Sheffield Hallam University.  Olivia is a fantastic addition to our team and we are starting the process of teaching her everything we know.

Helen Wall

Paralegal

Helen has recently joined the firm as a paralegal. She has 30 years’ experience working in law firms on the Wirral. Away from the office Helen is kept busy by her two young children and loves to socialise with family and friends.

Vikki Howden

Paralegal

Vikki was born and raised in North Lincolnshire, moving with her family to the North West in 2016.
 
Vikki joined Graystons in 2021 as a Legal Admin Assistant and having proven her capabilities has been promoted to Paralegal.
 
Vikki brings to the firm excellent client care skills transferred from her previous employment along with dedication to helping our clients every step of the way.
 
In her spare time, Vikki enjoys spending time with her young family, going on family adventures, going to the theatre, and baking delicious treats.
