9th – 15th October marks Baby Loss Awareness Week, a time dedicated to remembering all babies who have died during pregnancy, at or soon after birth, and in infancy. It’s also a week that shines a light on the experiences of bereaved parents and families, helping to break the silence around baby loss and drive improvements in care and support.

A Time for Remembrance and Reflection
For many families, baby loss is an unimaginable tragedy — one that changes their lives forever. Baby Loss Awareness Week offers an opportunity for parents, relatives, friends, and healthcare professionals to come together to remember the babies who are no longer with us and to support one another in grief.
The week culminates in the Global Wave of Light on 15th October at 7 pm, when candles are lit around the world to honour every baby who has died too soon. This shared act of remembrance helps families feel connected and reminds them they are not alone.
Why Awareness Matters
Every year in the UK, thousands of families experience the heartbreak of miscarriage, stillbirth, or neonatal death. While not all losses are preventable, some occur as a result of avoidable medical errors — such as failures to monitor foetal distress, delays in delivery, or mistakes in antenatal care.
Raising awareness not only helps families find support but also encourages improvements in maternity and neonatal services, ensuring lessons are learned and future tragedies are prevented.
Supporting Families Affected by Clinical Negligence
At Graystons Solicitors, we have seen firsthand the devastating impact that baby loss can have. We work with families who have questions about the care they received and help them find answers, accountability, and support.
Bringing a clinical negligence claim is never just about compensation — it’s often about understanding what happened and ensuring that steps are taken to improve patient safety. We approach every case with sensitivity, compassion, and a commitment to supporting families during challenging times.
How You Can Take Part
